Retired Super Bowl winning coach, current NBC, Sunday Night Football analyst in town for Texans’ primetime game against Detroit Lions
HOUSTON – As Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud went through his drills Thursday morning at practice, an accomplished coach watched him closely and waited patiently for a conversation.
Tony Dungy, the retired Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl winning coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, attended the practice session as part of his preparations for his role as an NBC analyst for a Sunday night primetime game against the Detroit Lions being broadcast on KPRC 2.
For a few minutes, Stroud, the Texans’ Pro Bowl passer and former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, interacted with Dungy as the 69-year-old former Pittsburgh Steelers safety passed on words of wisdom to the 23-year-old California native.
“Yes I was blessed to get to spend a little time with CJ Stroud today at the Texans practice,” Dungy wrote on social media in a reply to a video of him and Stroud. “He is an amazing young man. A tremendous talent but a great role model as well.”
